Funny Joke!: Comedy Manga Topics

For my presentation, I was going to add on to Jamie's presentation (since he's a week before me and also doing comedy anime and manga). I was going to highlight the techniques that are used in certain series and how although there might be specific jokes that are within Japanese culture. It's still relatable and funny to non-natives. 
Pop Team Epic: Poputepipikku
Pop team Epic by Bkub Okawa is a four-panel surrealist manga webcomic, that stars two 14 year old girls Popuko and Pipimi. The series often uses pop culture parodies and obscure surrealism that is relatable and humorous with today's "millennial" culture. 



Nichijou: 
Written and illustrated by Keiichi Arawi. The series focuses on the day to day antics Mio, Yuuko, Mai, and later Hakase Shinonome. A group of childhood friends that have mundane yet absurd and strange circumstances that the face through the entire series.















Asobi Asobase-Workshop of fun: Also a slice of life comedy anime (but cut into skits similar to Pop Team) written and illustrated by Rin Suzukawa.  AAWoF focuses on second-year middle school girls Hanako, Olivia and Hanako and their unofficial school "club" called the Pastimers Club. 



















Osomatsu-kun (Osomatsu-san 2015):  A comedy manga created by Fujio Akasuka that revolves around a rowdy bunch of sextuplet 5th graders. As the manga progressed it started to focus more on Iyami and Chibita and their interactions. The Manga was rebooted twice in 1966-88 and 2015, which depicts the brothers as 20-Year-old Adults.

Panty and Stocking:  
Two angels named Panty and stocking have been kicked out of heaven for bad behavior. In order for them to return back to heaven, they have to collect enough heaven coins to buy their way back to heaven.
